It is great the amount of possibilities Internet can give us to illustrate amazing stories. Today, I´ve used Storyboard. This tool allows the user to create comics freely. It is very easy to use, very intuitive. In general words, you only have to choose a background, select a character and write the comic bubbles. Then, you will have your amazing comic.

One thing I´ve liked the most is that it goes straight to the important things. For example, to select a character, it only let you choose the shape of the body, the colours of the skin, hair and eyes and the position of the body. This is great comparting to other apps where you need to select even the slightest detaiil such us the shape of the eyebrows. Thanks to this, Storyboard is fast, adequate and dynamic.

Another great thing about this tool is the variety of backgrpunds. There are lots to choose and you can also upload a picture. You can edit it as well , making them bigger, brighter, colourful ,etc.

You might as well choose the size of your comic, creating lots of comic strips.

Finally, I need to highlight the fact that you can insert plenty of characters in the same strip.

To sum up:

PROS: backgrounds, variety, characters (animals, people, costumes, monsters, plants, etc.) , its gestures, lots of bubbles shapes, different locations, lots of pictures to add to the comic and it is safe and free.

CONS: I can not think of an improvement as I think this tool is brilliant. But, if I could ask for something more, it would be the option to see the comic as a video (strip by strip).

In an educational point of view, I believe this app is incredibly useful due to the fact that students can do fun things in a safe website. They can create their stories and work lots of situations, including those that they have experienced.

Here, I have a comic to represent a situiation that a students with learning needs experienced in my school.

Additionaly, you can do comics to teach or review contents from different subjects. Here I´have made one using PIXTON.COM to review the five senses.

Pixton is a very intuitive app where you have to create your character. You can choose their facial expresion, hair colour, eyes shape and all the neccesary items to create it. Also you can select the body possition. Then, you create a comic using the background and you add the character and the bubbles.

Using Pixton made me view its usefulness:

PROS: very simple to use, intuitive

CONS: Few backgrouds, only one character, no objects to decorate the comic strips.

But the worst thing is that you cannot share or downwload your comic unless you pay the astonishing fare of 10 € per month. That´s really expenseive for the resources this web can give us.
